Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones en la Educación Ecuatoriana: Actualidades y Retos

Es evidente la necesidad de introducir nuevas tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones (TIC) en la enseñanza a todos los niveles, pero más importante es hacerlo con una visión integral y una adecuada planificación. Este artículo tiene como objetivo caracterizar estas nuevas tendencias en los procesos educativos como parte de su propia evolución. Se diseñó un instrumento de investigación, para caracterizar cómo se cumplen estos según la percepción de estudiantes y docentes. Los resultados demostraron que existe una marcada diferencia entre el discurso de los que promueven la introducción de estas nuevas tecnologías y lo que ocurre en la práctica, donde la centralización limita la flexibilidad de los planes de estudios, la situación económica de los gobiernos e individuos limita el acceso a las TIC y su aplicación evidencia un uso muy reducido de los nuevos requerimientos vinculados con el pensamiento crítico y sistémico, la creatividad, la capacidad de análisis y síntesis y la orientación a la solución de problemas. Se propone un modelo de cambio que demanda de dos premisas básicas: la existencia de una economía que facilite el acceso a las TIC y un cambio de mentalidad de los actores implicados, más coherente con la nueva realidad
