Institutional evaluation. A theoretical approach

Abstract

The present research aimed to establish a theoretical approach to institutional evaluation. Methodologically, it is limited to documentary-type research. The information was collected through documentary sources available on the web, selecting books, complete theses and articles from indexed journals. As a result, a table was prepared where different definitions of institutional evaluation are presented, considering authors who have worked on this issue since 2000. As a final consideration, it is highlighted that institutional evaluation constitutes a complex construct, where in its planning and development different external and internal elements converge, in addition to the types of evaluation that must be applied in order to assess the substantive functions of university institutions, such is the case of Ecuadorian universities, where the need to promote quality education for the training of human talent.
